- About Me:
- First off...I love to smile;) I live in the Sunshine State! I am on my journey to take my PhD in educational psychology while establishing my presence online. When I entered the network marketing industry, I was still in graduate school and was separated from my husband because of his US Navy deployments. I am still in graduate school and working my network marketing gig part time.
It has been challenging but I realized that if I could create additional income streams then we wouldn’t have to endure more military family separations. I would also be able to relinquish my part-time teaching job that was taking away time from the progress and completion of my dissertation work. In the end, it would also afford me and my husband a niche to fall back on especially at the heels of my husband's retirement and my graduation.
My Struggles in Online Marketing
For about 15 months, I engaged in online marketing. However I did not make any money. I followed the advice of my companies’ leaders yet still struggled to get leads. When I did get leads, I did not know how to talk to people. I was overwhelmed with fear and sheer rejection. So my dream of picking up my mobile phone to call my husband and tell him to submit the paperwork to end his military stint was becoming a distant dream.
My AHA Moment
Three months after my first year anniversary in network marketing, I experienced an ‘AHA’ moment that shifted my mindset. I realized that if I wanted to create a successful online marketing business that I needed to get professional training. It was not enough to get a little training here and there. I needed to identify the real training from the fluff that the so called “gurus” were pitching at network marketers. About 5 months into my first venture, a friend recommended a site called My Private Classroom which offered free training. What is ironic is that we never took advantage of the site or the training and both of us never made any money in our businesses. I came back to the site after my marketing struggles. I kept dismissing the mantra that seemed to follow me: sell yourself not your company!
I went back to this training site and plugged into their free training and their supportive community. I began listening to several network marketing leaders and social media coaches who believed and recommended that leveraging different websites would help create financial freedom. What? I know I heard this before but I never followed through. Could it be that simple?! It was then when I realized that there was more to social media than the mere act of adding friends, getting followers, or getting people to buy your products.
Discovering The Power of The Mind
I understood the power of social media marketing and the power of branding myself. Yet I also knew that my foundation was sitting on my shoulders. It's all mindset. Everything starts out as a thought. What made me think that I could pick up a program and that would solve my woes. Boohoo, get real kiddo. The programs might be the best in the world but I realized if my mind was not all there then it was not going to do me any good.
So I finally decided that I was going to win the mental battle which questioned my abilities and leadership skills. As a result, I made the decision to get serious. It was the best decision that I ever made to position my online marketing ventures on the path to prosperity and get my family on the road to personal and financial success.
