Profile Information

About Me:
I’m a 44 year old husband and a father to a 9 and an 11-year old who keep us pretty busy with sports and school events. My family and I enjoy the outdoors, we love the beach and the mountains, and we do a lot of camping when the weather is right. Dogs are also a part of our lives - we spend a lot of time with our dog Otis – a Boston Terrier.

I’m a full-time Soldier in the Army, with 18 years of service. I’m looking toward retirement in just a couple of years.

I’ve owned and have been involved in building small businesses since before joining the Army, and on-and-off, for more than 20 years.

I'll admit, I'm a horrible “salesman”, and I never liked the idea of bugging my friends and family and trying to convince them they needed what I was selling. Always seemed kinda bass-ackwards to me and it's something I won't do.

Early in 2007, my wife and I started discussing our plans for my post-Army career and we made a decision to concentrate on building our own business, full-time, due, in large part, to our past successes with small business, and to knowing what the industry can do for regular people like us who approach it with the right vision and mindset.

We learned a long time ago that the easiest way to succeed in small business, is to find something that fits comfortably into our lifestyle - something we enjoy. A product or service we already use that allows us to share our values and business ideals with our clients and business partners. Something that could join our lifestyle, instead of the other way around.

In addition, we fully understood that to push our success, we really needed to dig deeper to learn and understand, not only the psychology of small business and of the marketing process, but more importantly, ourselves and our thought processes.

That's what led me to shift my focus from our primary home business and to focus on learning everything I could about marketing and mindset.

That's what led me to the Million Mind March.

What I learned is that to be successful in anything - business, love, life, sports, whatever - you have to live a life that gives evidence to what you believe - not to make money.

So, I started focusing, not on getting rich, but on getting WISDOM!

I personally don't have time for, nor am I interested in, dealing in B-S. I simply want to build a business based on living a life that gives evidence to what I believe in and I want to share what I learn, with others.

The thing is - there's plenty of success to go around. It doesn't just disappear in bad economic times. Millionaires are not the only one's who are self-made.

So my mission is to become more responsible to more people - to help more people understand the path to a successful life - whatever that includes.

I want to share with you, what I know, what I have learned, and what I continue to learn, about marketing, sales psychology, mindset, leadership and all the different components that go into being successful at whatever it is you want to be successful at.

Some of this material may be a bit too raw for some. Some of it is not for the timid or for those who are looking for a quick fix.

It's not for those who are looking to become millionaires overnight or for those seeking a business where someone else does all the work for you.

It IS for those who are committed to success.

It IS for those who want to study wisdom of the ages.

Is IS for those who want TRUTH.

It IS for those who are willing to act as if failure were not an option.

Welcome to the Million Mind March!

Cheers - Rick

Faith and the Subconscious Mind

I've been with my mom for the past several days

as my dad is very ill and in the hospital.

With lots of time on my hands...

sitting around the hospital...

I've been doing a lot of reading

and reflection....

primarily on the power of the

Subconscious Mind.

It's a fascinating topic, but one that I feel

is often misunderstood, or just too "out there"

for some and so they choose not to consider it

at all.

What is the subconscious mind?

Well, it first helps to understand that we all

What I Learned From a Cult Movie Classic

So I was watching one of my all-time favorite movies last night "Point Break" with Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves.

Total kick-ass movie!

This movie is one of those cult classics, alongside Roadhouse (another Swayze flick), Office Space and Princess Bride, that's chock-full of one liners. It's action-packed and is just a helluva lot of fun to watch.

In it, Reeves plays an undercover FBI agent, Johnny Utah, looking for a group of bank robbers who also happen to be surfers.

He befriends the su… Continue

The Carrot, The Egg and The Coffee Bean

One of my friends gave a speech yesterday for a graduation ceremony and shared this story.

I'd never heard it before and enjoyed it enough that I wanted to share it with you.

The original story is by Mary Sullivan.

Enjoy!

ARE YOU A CARROT, AN EGG, OR A COFFEE BEAN?

A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and… Continue

Eminem on Mindset

A few months ago, Diane Hochman conducted a survey
and found (Diane, correct me if I'm wrong on the numbers here)

and found that like 80%+ of the people surveyed

readily admitted ...

THEY LACK CONFIDENCE!

Is this you?

Do you lack the confidence to do EVERYTHING you can...

EVERYTHING you need to do, to step up and lead the way you talk about wanting to?

I'll admit to you that it struck a chord with me ...

You familiar with Eminem? Did you see the movie 8 Mile?

Eminem
Kim Basinger

Burying "I Can't" ... What's It All About?

You see the photos and the videos … someone holding on to a tombstone bearing the words -

“RIP ‘I Can’t'”

or,

“Here Lie the Words ‘I Can’t'”

or some other variation.

What’s it all about?

It’s about burying what is stopping you…

It’s about taking action…

It’s about proving those wrong who said you couldn’t do it…

It’s about taking control instead of being controlled…

It’s about teaching your kids to live to their fullest potential…

It’s about being in a place in your life where you’re… Continue

Im not far at all from where you were (probably only mins). Quakes are over on Rockchester.

I dated a military man stationed in the DC area. I had a blast when I went for visits. Loved the aeronautics, Fords theater, Lincoln Memorial, Arlington, etc. I have family in the Baltimore area so I would go visit them at the same time.

When do you retire? Will you have anymore overseas tours?

What brought me here was after several invites, I decided to look into it. I love to meet new people. I have my current career that is starting to pick up speed and Im embarking on a new adventure with someone so this seemed like a good place to see how others are moving along. A good place for me to learn a few lessions and meet new friends.

Thanks for taking time to send me a message - Sheryl
